Apparently a local Chinese restaurant I liked to go to had a dishonest waiter who copied the front and back of my AmX card when they were supposedly running it in back to pay for a business dinner. I saw false charges pop up, called AmX customer service, AmX immediately refunded the charges the thief\/thieves made, and sent a new corporate card overnight UPS. (FYI, AmX corporate customer service is <em>the best<\/em> customer service I&#8217;ve ever experienced.)<\/p>\n<p>So fast forward to today, when I was downloading some business apps from iTunes&#8230;<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/royceeddington\/5018141659\/\" title=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 01 by Royce Eddington, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4126\/5018141659_c83544b0e7_m.jpg?resize=186%2C114\" width=\"186\" height=\"114\" alt=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 01\" \/><\/a><\/center><BR><BR><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and I remembered only after I pressed the YES to the purchase button the credit card iTunes has on file is my no-longer-valid AmX card. But the download for the $14.99 paid app had started anyway!<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/royceeddington\/5018141679\/\" title=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 02 by Royce Eddington, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4103\/5018141679_ace1c39e55_m.jpg?resize=151%2C58\" width=\"151\" height=\"58\" alt=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 02\" \/><\/a><\/center><BR><BR><\/p>\n<p>The app finished downloading, and I saw it in my app list in iTunes. I went to see if it cleared in my purchase history&#8230;<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/royceeddington\/5018141691\/\" title=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 03 by Royce Eddington, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4103\/5018141691_3af54d6e4c.jpg?resize=500%2C50\" width=\"500\" height=\"50\" alt=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 03\" \/><\/a><\/center><BR><BR><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and sure enough, there it was. Tax and all.<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/royceeddington\/5018141707\/\" title=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 04 by Royce Eddington, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4107\/5018141707_a9e834c90a_m.jpg?resize=227%2C106\" width=\"227\" height=\"106\" alt=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 04\" \/><\/a><\/center><BR><BR><\/p>\n<p>I went ahead to the edit payment information button to update the AmX card&#8230;<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/royceeddington\/5018141743\/\" title=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 05 by Royce Eddington, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4092\/5018141743_7aa3300050_m.jpg?resize=215%2C47\" width=\"215\" height=\"47\" alt=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 05\" \/><\/a><\/center><BR><BR><\/p>\n<p>There were no errors at all in the screens that followed. Only after I had updated my credit card information did iTunes finally say something was wrong.<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/royceeddington\/5018141795\/\" title=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 07 by Royce Eddington, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4132\/5018141795_58bb8502bb.jpg?resize=500%2C87\" width=\"500\" height=\"87\" alt=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 07\" \/><\/a><\/center><BR><BR><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A previous purchase failed to successfully authorize, because the credit card used for that purchase was declined. Please provide working credit-card information and press done to clear the outstanding amount from your account and enable your account to continue purchasing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And at the bottom of the page was a small addendum about the outstanding balance&#8230;<BR><BR><\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/royceeddington\/5018747932\/\" title=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 08 by Royce Eddington, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4131\/5018747932_37b8dfddb1.jpg?resize=500%2C100\" width=\"500\" height=\"100\" alt=\"iTunes Credit Card Glitch 08\" \/><\/a><\/center><BR><BR><\/p>\n<p>I pressed DONE and that seemed to be it.<\/p>\n<p>I think it&#8217;s kind of strange Apple allows a full app download before a credit card can be confirmed. Shouldn&#8217;t the charge amount go through first before the download is authorized?
