Classic Video – BMW’s “Star” with Clive Owen and Madonna. Directed by Guy Ritchie

I found another classic video while sifting through my archives. This short film from 2001 stars Clive Owen and Madonna and was directed by Guy Ritchie.

Oven though this was made 9 years ago, Clive’s performance still makes me laugh.

According to Wikipedia, “The BMW film series, The Hire was a series of eight short films (averaging about ten minutes each) produced for the Internet in 2001 and 2002. A form of branded content, all eight films featured popular filmmakers from across the globe, starred Clive Owen as the “Driver”, and highlighted the performance aspects of various BMW automobiles. The plots of each of the films differ, but one constant remains: Clive Owen plays “The Driver”, a man who goes from place to place (in presumably rented BMW automobiles), getting hired by various people to be a sort of transport for their vital needs.”

Unfortunately, “on October 21, 2005, BMW stopped distribution of The Hire on DVD and removed all eight films from the BMWFilms website just four years after the first film debuted.”

I know I’ve got the original DVD from BMW with all the films somewhere around here, too. If I can find it, I’ll rip them all and post to YouTube.

EDIT: The first Transporter film with Jason Statham “whose job it is to deliver packages without asking any questions” while doing crazy stunts in fancy cars came out on October 11, 2002. Coincidence?

Donald Trump displays amazing psychic powers! He says what I’ve been thinking on CNN!

I’ve been swamped with projects this week, but I saw this video on CNN and wanted to post it before it got too late.

Who knew Donald Trump was a psychic? Right around the 1 minute mark on a CNN interview, he says what I’ve been thinking (and endlessly ranting on about in this blog) for awhile!

“When we see the taxes just going up, we see wars that we shouldn’t be in, we see roadways going into Manhattan that are falling apart… and yet we’re rebuilding Afghanistan. I don’t know that it’s going to work out for him.”

Him being Obama.

It’s not just a rant about the Democrats. It’s about how more and more people are finally getting fed up with all the political BS.

Check it out…

The Neon Trees “Animal” video looks familiar

To paraphrase a Samuel Jackson line from “Snakes on a Plane”, “Enough is enough! I have had it with these mother******g musicians ripping off my mother******g childhood!”

Shakira robbing Fozzie bear was bad enough, but now I see a band called Neon Trees has a video called “Animal”…

Hmmmm. That video looks familiar.

Museum patrons minding their own business? Suddenly getting gassed by a colorful smoke? Everyone falls down unconscious? Vandals enter the museum and deface/repaint the artwork? But they spare the one painting the very colorful leader likes?

Holy ripoff, Batman! That’s all from the 1989 movie… Batman! The one with Michael Keaton!

I found a clip of the movie that shows the Joker and his henchmen entering the museum right after the gas attack and you can see the whole 1989 Batman clip on YouTube that I’m talking about by clicking here. (Sorry about not putting the video here directly, but embedding of that video was disabled.)

What is really depressing is that Tyler Glenn, the lead singer of Neon Trees, is 27 years old. When this Batman movie came out in 1989, he was all of 6 years old.

The good news is that I’m finally old enough to recognize a ripoff when I see one! The bad news is that I’m finally old enough to recognize a ripoff when I see one!

I think I’m gonna’ go get me a Whataburger and a cold beer now before I start yelling at kids to get off my lawn.

Who said Wakka Wakka first? Shakira or Fozzie Bear? [VIDEO]

OK, so I’m still hearing Shakira’s “Waka Waka” Africa song all over the radio…

…and to this day, every single time I hear this “Waka Waka” song, this is what I think of…

FOZZIE BEAR WAS ROBBED!!

Seriously. Shakira spells it Waka Waka, but how different is Waka Waka and Wakka Wakka?

You don’t even need to hear Fozzie Bear’s voice in the song!

At least I’m not the only one who noticed. (NOTE : Next video entirely in Spanish.)

I’ll let Statler & Waldorf sum up how I feel about Shakira’s version of “Wakka Wakka”

Solid fuel boosters return to Earth from space shuttle launch [VIDEO]

I was over at BoingBoing and saw they had posted a video of a space shuttle booster falling back to earth.

They say this video is from a “…solid fuel boosters on the STS-124 Space Shuttle Discovery launch. The action starts at 1:50, when the boosters are ejected.”

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Science rocks.

A great white shark says hello [VIDEO]

I love scuba diving, and I really enjoy swimming among all the marine life that’s in the ocean.

Having said that, this next video is really beautiful, and completely nuts at the same time. Right around the :23 mark….

Chuck Patterson posted that video where he said he… “was SUP surfing with a couple friends and 2 sharks circled us for about 15 minutes. the next day, i decided to go back out at around the same time and take my GO PRO HD HERO camera (gopro.com) mounted on a 10 ft pole and do some exploring. Sure enough within 5 minutes a 9 ft shark came out of no where and circled twice and slapped his tail on my board before disappearing. then a minute later a 7 ft young juvenile Great White swam circles around me for 12 minutes. It was an unreal experience that I will cherish forever.”

Awesome. Slightly unnerving, but awesome!
