Who ships a slightly customized laptop faster – Apple or Dell FINAL UPDATE

I just got the Dell laptop today.

This is the laptop I originally ordered back on the 8th of June.

At least it arrived faster than the initially scheduled July 8th. But still, 24 days is a very long time to wait for any laptop nowadays. Especially since Apple managed to get theirs delivered in 6 days.

Recall : Chicken of the Sea brand 12-ounce solid white tuna in water

The FDA just announced the company that makes Chicken of the Sea is recalling specific cans of Chicken of the Sea 12-ounce solid white tuna in water.

There’s nothing wrong with the product, but the cans did “not meet the company’s standards for seal tightness” due to an apparent “production error”.

The recall is limited to “1,105 total cases in the states of Wisconsin, Nebraska, Utah, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine, Colorado, Indiana, California and Oregon.”

“Consumers who purchased the product with the UPC code 4800000262, “Best By Date 2/10/2014″ and product code 7OA1E ASWAB, 7OA2E ASWAB, 7OA3E ASWAB, 7OA4E ASWAB, 7OA5E ASWAB, 7OAEE ASWAB or 7OAFE ASWAB are asked to call 1-877-843-6376 for return information and a full refund.”

No other Chicken of the Sea items are part of the recall.

Hurricane Alex aftermath – no damage [PHOTOS]

Hurricane Alex already passed by us. Fortunately, we didn’t get any damage at all.

The hurricane is still crossing over Mexico and still has large bands of rain that swirl around and dump sheets of cold water on us. For the most part, it is clearing up pretty fast.

There’s still a tornado watch for the county until late tonight and there’s also some low-lying areas that are just slightly flooded. But none of this is even close to what hurricane Dolly did a few years ago.

The skies alternate from suddenly becoming very dark to very bright white. When it goes white, it’s blinding to look up in any direction.

Yahoo! Editorial has added my photo to their gallery!

I just got an email that Yahoo! Editorial added one of my photos to their official gallery of hurricane Alex. I’m one of only 8 photos and one video they selected.

Here’s the link to the Yahoo! Hurricane Alex gallery.

So far, hurricane Alex isn’t too bad. There’s a ton of rain and some higher-than-average wind, but nothing like hurricane Dolly. The power is still on and only flickered a few times.

I’ll upload some photos tomorrow of what things look like around town.

WalMart runs low on stock as hurricane Alex closes in [PHOTOS]

Last night I had to make a late run to WalMart to get some extra oil for the generator and saw the store’s “hurricane” inventory had been depleted.

What was a large shelf of tarps a few days ago was mostly gone.

The flashlights? Except for the very expensive sets, they were sold out.

The camping lights were all out and so was all of the propane.

And you know things are getting bad when all the Ramen shelves are bare.

As I was leaving, the night shift workers were pulling palettes of inventory out to re-stock.

On a related note, if I was an inventory manager for WalMart and saw there were “emergency” items that nobody wanted to buy even in a hurricane situation, I would seriously reconsider keeping the item in stock at all.

Free child safety tattoos at Protection One website [PHOTO]

A website called Protection One Security is offering a set of six free child tattoos if you fill in your mailing information on their website.

I recently received my sample set and they look pretty good.

They’re pretty straightforward. Rub on. Use a sharpie to fill in an emergency contact number. Alcohol off.

Since my nephew likes tattoos, this should be a fun little backup to have whenever we hit the beach or go to a local traveling carnival.

Sam’s club runs out of stock as hurricane Alex closes in [PHOTO]

I was at the local Sam’s club to pick up some last minute items and saw this.

Bread was just about out. Water. Every generator was gone.

Who ships a slightly customized laptop faster – Apple or Dell UPDATE #2

I just got an update from Dell.

The Dell laptop I ordered back on the 8th of June with priority shipping has been delayed yet again. The new and improved delivery date will be around July 6th.

Almost a month for a damn laptop? When a Mac that was ordered on the 10th arrived on the 16th direct from China?

From now on I’ll be sure to tell anyone that asks my professional opinion about Dell to expect about a 30 day delay in their order and to plan accordingly.

Recall : VapoSpray and Sinex 4 hour nasal spray

What’s up with the serious lack of quality control nowadays?

Procter & Gamble Company just announced they’re going to yank every 4-Hour Decongestant Nasal Spray off the shelves because “the product formulation may not meet the expiration dates on the package.”

OK. That would be kind of important.

“The product name is: VapoSpray 4 Hour Nasal Spray by Sinex with a UPC code of 3 23900 00082 7. Prior to June 2009, this product was also sold as Sinex Nasal Spray in both a spray (UPC Code 3 23900 00082 7) and Ultra Fine Mist package (UPC Code 3 23900 00085 8).”

Toss ’em if you have ’em.

RECALL : Magic Power Coffee

So let me get this straight. There’s actually a coffee that says it “magically has an effect on both men & women!” and “With Magic Power Coffee, your “special moments” can increase to a level you only dreamed!”?

Dude. That’s not what I’ve ever used coffee for. Either I’ve been doing something horribly wrong this whole time or something’s not right with that coffee.

It turns out that the “magic” is about to go POOF, courtesy of the FDA. The FDA just announced that “…analysis of one lot of the product… found that the product contains undeclared hydroxythiohomosildenafil, similar in structure to Sildenafil, an FDA-approved drug used for the treatment of male Erectile Dysfunction (ED), making Magic Power Coffee an unapproved drug.”

Viagra in the coffee? Talk about a real pick me up.

The official FDA press release is here and the “magic power coffee” site is here.
