USPS linking to the wrong X / Twitter account

Has anyone told the US Post Office ( @USPS on X / Twitter ) that the account they have listed on all of their packaging has an individual’s private X / Twitter account ( @uspsstamps ) and not theirs?

That’s a pretty big “oops”.

HBO not renewing Sesame Street contract

In completely random news, HBO will not be renewing their contract with Sesame Street next year.

In my opinion, Sesame Street hasn’t been the same since they let the brilliant Joey Mazzarino (“Murray”) go.

It is always EDID for projectors

You know how it’s always DNS for networking issues?

It’s always EDID for projector connection issues.

Switch from advanced to standard or standard to advanced in the EDID settings to get a device to connect that would not before.

Surprise Spectrum outage for the Texas valley tonight 12-11-24

Spectrum sent out a 5:30 PM email today to all Texas valley customers, saying “Hello Spectrum Customer, We will be upgrading the network in your area between 12 AM tonight and 12 PM tomorrow… During the scheduled upgrade work, your service may be temporarily affected.”

Odd. I wonder if something is in the process of breaking upstream. Or if something was found that needs breaking upstream.

Region-wide surprise outages that may last up to 12 hours are never good.

Screenshot of the notice…

Hello Spectrum Customer, We will be upgrading the network in your area between 12 AM tonight and 12 PM tomorrow. Here’s What You Can Expect: During the scheduled upgrade work, your service may be temporarily affected. • If you are a Spectrum Voice subscriber, access to 911 will be temporarily unavailable during this maintenance window. Please be prepared with other options, such as a charged cell phone, in case of an emergency. • Provided time estimates for work completion may change. In some cases, the upgrade can be finished earlier than expected. • The upgrade will take place automatically, and your service will return when it is complete. No action is required by you. Please note: Scheduled recordings may take up to three days to reset. Review your scheduled recordings to ensure all future programs are set as desired. Programs that have already been recorded will not be affected. If you experience any issues after the upgrade, restart your Spectrum set-top box by unplugging it from the power outlet for 60 seconds and then plugging it in again. You can also find troubleshooting steps online for Spectrum TV, Spectrum Voice and Spectrum Internet.

Been awhile

There needs to be a word for when you don’t whistle on the path as much anymore. Not because you don’t have a tune. It’s because you realize the forest has always had an unfair mix of kind and unkind, and when the sun starts setting, the kind ones go into hiding, and the unkind ones do not.

Paths unwinding and winding again.

Sunrise.

Been awhile.

So what’s it like in the Texas valley?

Local board member calls out the city of Mission for “holding” $3 million in tax revenue for 7 months instead of giving it to the org it was budgeted for.

The city finally releases the money, but then fires the board member.

Welcome to the Texas Valley!

Adobe CC starting “generative credits” for AI use in apps

Adobe CC users: “Starting January 17, we will begin enforcing generative credit limits on select plans.. since generating content with AI models requires significant computational resources, we have updated our plans to include a monthly allocation of generative credits.”

Generative credits will renew each month based on the CC plan’s original billing date. Using any generative function will generally cost 1 credit: Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Text to image, etc.

Credits will not roll over monthly.

If you have a CC “all apps” plan, you get 1,000 credits per month. For individual CC app plans, the credit allowance varies.

Adobe is not strictly enforcing limits on PAID CC plans until March 1.

Wrong key, Windows

Microsoft announced they’re adding a new key to all keyboards for AI integrations. I think they missed a huge opportunity to leverage decades of existing branding. Instead of a new key, why not make the *existing* Windows key *also* mean AI access? Add it all in there!

Easy pitch – show a wide range of consumers pressing the windows key and creating AI music, art, etc. The voiceover “it’s not just the windows key now. It’s the key to new windows. New worlds. New creations. It’s advanced AI. Windows.” End the ad with the windows logo.

Why make consumers learn something new when they have something very familiar right in front of them? The windows logo is well known, and is already on most of the keyboards already in the customer’s home!

The “new” key is nothing but a launcher. Drop all the AI additions into the existing Windows start menu and watch everyone associate AI with Windows.

Apple says Die Hard is a Christmas movie. That is all.

Apple has spoken. Die Hard is a Christmas movie. See for yourself.
